Las Vegas for Kids

When you are planning your holidays the last place that you might think of visiting with the kids is Las Vegas. You might be right of course. It’s hot, it’s dusty, it’s in the middle of the desert, and you might lose all your money from the kids college fund in the Luxor. From that description it does sound a little bad but rest assured there are actually a lot of other things to do in Las Vegas with the children that won’t cost a fortune and is sure to keep them well entertained.

First of all, there are lots of shows to see in the city with all the major hotels having something on offer. If you want to see some performing arts the world famous Cirque de Soleil has a number of productions at different hotels around the strip. At the moment they are running at both the Mandalay Bay hotel and the Mirage. There most famous show though, O, is currently on offer at the Bellagio. Another plus to this is you can watch the 1000 fountains perform their dances for free before the show starts.

Something else that will definitely go down well with the young ones is the Tournament of Kings at Excalibur. The evening time show re-lives the legendary exploits of the mythological journeys of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The Excalibur also has a hotel and you can book to watch the show with or without an evening meal. A plus point for this show is that it is free for kids under 4 years old.

Perhaps the best attraction for kids in the town is going to be Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. You will find these animal loving entertainers and magicians at the Mirage Hotel. Taking pride of place here are not the dolphins but the pairs famous white tigers. You can also see leopards and lions, and if you are lucky, you might even see the stars themselves, who are known to visit occasionally to meet and greet guests as they arrive.

Finally, everyone likes something for free so if you are at or in the vicinity of Caesars Palace you might want to check out the Fall of Atlantis. Although the show only lasts 11 minutes, it has some pretty cool animations and fire displays. It is also near the shopping mall for some retail therapy and there is a huge 50,000 gallon aquarium nearby to visit. The performance runs every day from 11am every hour, on the hour.
